Instagram is full of great information on all things parenting. Here are the best Instagram accounts for new moms
This list of best instagram accounts for new moms covers the following topics: car seat safety, preparing dog for baby, hypnobirthing, baby sleep, baby milestones and baby led weaning.
Michelle from @Safeintheseat is a car seat expert and she shares her knowledge to help us keep our babies safe in their car seats. I learned so much from Michelle’s Instagram, from how to stay safe in the car while pregnant , how to choose the longest lasting rear facing car seat, to how to organize the things in my car to prevent serious injuries. I highly encourage you to check out her saved stories for more information on these subjects.
@dogmeets_baby is a great place to learn all about preparing your fur baby for the arrival of your new baby. Dominika, a certified dog trainer, shares all about how to socialize dogs to be around babies, introducing the dog to the baby, and so much more.
@thepositivebirthcompany has daily inspiration for pregnancy. They share beautiful and positive birth stories that helped me get through my fear of giving birth. I also purchased their hypnobirthing class and I loved it. The class covers the physiology of birth, relaxation techniques, the stages of birth and the postpartum procedures for baby. The Positive Birth Company also has an app (Freya) that times contractions and provides guided meditation to get through the contractions.
Sleep for Baby
Before I was pregnant, I didn’t know how controversial parenting could be. One of the most controversial topics in parenting is sleep.
All I can say is that every family is different and there is no good size fits all solution to parenting, especially sleep. The best we can do is be informed and make the best decisions that work for our own family.
That being said, here are two great Instagram accounts if you would like to explore sleep training or co-sleeping.
For sleep training, check out:
@takingcarababies is an account run by Cara, neonatal nurse and certified pediatric sleep consultant.
I took her newborn sleep course and it helped me set up a nap routine for my baby. My husband and I had a really difficult time putting our son down for naps and this course helped tremendously.
If you are interested in learning more about safely co-sleeping with your baby, check out:
I have to admit that I felt pressured to sleep train my baby. Everyone always asks if baby is sleeping through the night, and the truth was no. My baby, at 11 months old, still wakes up multiple times to breastfeed. And this is completely normal as I found out from @taylorkulik‘s account.
I love @taylorkulik Instagram account because she empowered me to trust my instincts when it came to my child’s sleep and soothing him.
@healthiest_baby is run by Dr. Cathryn, a pediatrician. Dr. Cathryn posts cute and informative infographics about baby and toddler milestones, how to talk to baby, encouragement for parents and so much more.
@ontrackbaby is an account by Jenny and Carrie, pediatric occupational therapists specializing in infant neurology. They are the creators of the NOEL method for newborns course. NOEL stands for Nature nurtures baby, Observe your baby, Engage with baby, Less is best for baby.
I love @ontrackbaby because they dive into the neurology of babies. Also, Jenny and Carrie give practical tips on supporting (how to not get in the way of) our baby’s natural neurological development.
Baby Led Weaning
@newwaysnutrition is my go-to for all things related to baby led weaning. Ranae has so much great information and she makes baby-led-weaning easy to understand and implement.
