Hi, I'm Jess!
Welcome to Engineer to Mommy, a place where I will be sharing my adventures as an engineer in construction and first time mom. My passions include career development, Montessori education, and learning about all things health related.
My goal is to encourage you in your engineering and mommy journey by sharing my experience and what I am learning along the way.
I am a first generation graduate and mechanical engineer. I work for a construction management company and I have a passion for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems and Lean processes. Currently, I am trying to balance my career with being a mom.
My son, Leo, is 10 months old. I’ve always been the momma bear type and becoming a momma has been a dream come true. While I was pregnant with Leo, I stumbled across YouTube videos of Montessori and I was instantly hooked. I’m so excited to share about the Montessori philosophy and how we Montessori at home.
Some Facts About Me
Our home is a small one-bedroom apartment in Northern California. I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco but I’ve lived in Cali most of my life.
I am the oldest of five - probably the reason for being the momma bear type.
My dream is to one day have a homestead and live a more self-sustainable life.
I recently learned about the importance of a healthy microbiome and improving my family’s microbiome has become my #1 mission.
